Sem Dirks, born in Beverwijk on March 14, 2001, is a versatile Dutch footballer who primarily plays as a center-back or left-back. He began his football career in the youth teams of RKVV DEM and AZ. In 2020, he joined Jong AZ, AZ Alkmaar's reserve team. He made his professional debut for Jong AZ on August 29, 2020. Later, in June 2021, he signed a professional contract with AZ, which was set to run until at least 2022, with an option for an additional year. In January 2022, he moved to VVV-Venlo on loan, making his debut for the team on February 4, 2022. After a successful loan spell, VVV-Venlo exercised their option to buy, and Dirks signed a two-year contract with the club, with an option for an extra season.
